This is nowhere near the waterfront, it’s the harbour and the games will be held in Portland harbour, miles away

Just to put the record straight the 2012 Sailing Events will be held in Portland bay, not Weymouth bay. Weymouth, on the map, does not even start where the Sailing Events will be held and another thing, without Portland, there would be no events. It was Portland stone that built the marina and it was Portlanders that supported the build to. Theres Wyke between Portland and Weymouth, don’t you know, a whole community. Weymouth Games ha, thats a real lough.

Brings back memories, good and bad. I spent many happy
days and nights. Some of my kids were born here, indeed one child still lives there.
Now I live thousands of miles away in a far off land.

Just to put the record straight the 2012 Games Sailing Events are to be held in the Borough of Weymouth & Portland. The contestants base will be at the National Sailing Academy which is in Portland whilst the majority of the races take place in Weymouth Bay. Those visiting the event will be mainly viewing the sailing from vantage points in Weymouth.

If you want to go on a boat trip from Weymouth harbour, try White Motor Boats Ltd for ferries to Portland Castle and Lulworth Cove, and pleasure boat trips along the stunning Jurassic coast. Enjoy!
